ISG Office Concepts Inc. honored for large number of exports Tuesday, April 20, 2010 By Bradley Schlegel Staff Writer UPPER GWYNEDD — Joanne Santomauro said the suggestion by her son Jonathan, then an undergraduate at Cornell University, to start a global contract research organization sparked many late-night discussions. "We both saw it as an opportunity," said Joanne, the president and CEO of ISG Office Concepts Inc., an independent office products/furniture dealer. Less than two years later, Ancillare — a division of ISG that helps pharmaceutical and biotech companies throughout the world complete clinical trials — has been honored by the U.S. Department of Commerce. On Monday, U.S. Rep Allyson Schwartz, D-13th District, presented Joanne and Jonathan Santomauro — as well as several other key employees — with the Export Achievement Certificate, created to recognize small and medium-sized enterprises and organizations that have successfully entered the international marketplace for the first time or that have successfully entered a new market, according to the agency's Web site. You're ahead of the curve," Schwartz said during a ceremony at the company's office at 717 Dickerson Road. In approximately 18 months, the organization has handled $3.5 million worth of trial supplies, according to Jonathan Santomauro. Without divulging names, he said the company has worked with all the local pharmaceutical companies. "We're very excited about earning this award," said Jonathan Santomauro, the president of Ancillare. "It's a way of showing how much experience we've earned in a short time. We've shipped projects to everywhere imaginable." Ancillare has contracted with the Mayo and Cleveland clinics, according to Joanne Santomauro. The company supplies demand forecasting analysis as well as all documentation for the global shifting of all supplies, according to Jonathan Santomauro. He said the trials can last anywhere from a few months to two years. "Our goal is to make sure a clinical trial remains on budget and schedule," he said. "What we offer is cost savings efficiencies." The export activity accounts for 20 percent of the company's overall business, according to Joanne Santomauro. "It's growing very rapidly," she said. Ancillare fits a priority set by the Obama administration to expand the economy increasing exports, according to Schwartz. "Small business is the engine of growth," she said. "It's wonderful to recognize companies who help the economy grow.
